Jeong Lok Lee

Lee JeongLok est un artiste né à Gwangju, en Corée du Sud, en 1971. Il vit et travaille à Séoul.

A travers ses séries oniriques, Lee JeongLok explore l’essence des paysages naturels Coréens. Sa série Tree of Life (arbre de vie, ndlr) combine à la fois pause longue, lumières artificielle et naturelle afin de révéler les éléments intangibles de la scène, telle l’énergie intrinsèque à toute molécule vivante. Les images saisissantes ainsi créées génèrent un langage universel reposant sur la spiritualité. Elles engendrent un échange entre le visible et l’intangible, ou, tel que défini par Merleau-Ponty, un chiasme entre expérience subjective et existence objective.

« Il existe un espace où la raison se dissipe » affirme Lee. « Lorsque j’atteints ce lieu, je ne me repose plus seulement sur ma vision mais j’exploite l’intégralité de mes sens. Lorsque ceux-ci sont en alerte simultanément, un nouveau monde ouvre ses portes. » Lee revisite ce concept plus en profondeur avec Nabi, signifiant "Papillon" en Coréen ou encore "Prophète" en Hébreu ; Un esprit évanescent adoptant ponctuellement la forme d’une sphère primordiale, semble transiter d’un monde à l’autre.

Lee JeongLok a exposé internationalement, des Etats-Unis au Japon. Récipidendaire du prix Shinsegae Art, ses œuvres ont depuis intégrées les collections d’entreprises et privées parmi les plus prestigieuses de Corée mais aussi du reste du monde.
